The CBS Late Movie

"Everyone knows that they are not movies. They are repackaged old TV Shows." - A miffed David Letterman circa the 1980's when CBS changes the name of the CBS Late Movie to "CBS Late Night."

During the late 1970's to the early 1980's, the CBS Late Movie did, in fact, feature movies from Mon - Thurs as they repeated the classic rotating crime movies COLUMBO, MCMILLAN AND WIFE and MCCLOUD. (of the three, as a young kid...I dug MCCLOUD the most....don't ask me why...maybe it was the cowboy wandering around in the big city...an obvious take-off on that Clint Eastwood film whose name I can't remember.....)

Now, on Fridays...Letterman had a point as the Nightstalker and The Avengers were not movies...they were TV shows, although the Nighstalker started out as a TV movie and had a TV movie sequel entitled The Night Strangler. (There was a third Nightstalker movie entitled The Night Killers, but it was never made. Go figure)
